HOW TO CREATE A FOLDER ON GOOGLE DRIVE
1. Make sure you are signed into Google with your CRKC school account
2. Access https://drive.google.com
3. To create a new folder, find the "New" button in the upper left-hand corner and click on it
4. You will see a drop-down menu of options, including one for "Folder," which you need to click
5. After "New" and then "Folder," you will be given a pop-up window to name your folder
6. The title for this folder MUST be COLLEGE - Your Last Name, Your First Name (you will be instructed to fix it if this is not properly followed)
7. Once you enter the title for your folder and hit the Enter/Return key, you will see the folder appear in your Google Drive folder list
HOW TO SHARE YOUR GOOGLE DRIVE FOLDER WITH HART
1. Double check that you are in Drive with your CRKC account (a good habit to always verify first, especially if you have a personal Google account)
2. Once you have created and named your Google Drive folder according to instructions (Checklist Item #4)…
3. Right click on the folder and a menu of options will appear
4. Click on SHARE (toward the top of the list)
5. A new window will pop up, asking you to type in an email address with whom you want to share the folder
6. Type in my CRKC school email address – [email protected]
7. Make sure that I am included as an EDITOR (look at the drop down menu options at the end of the line with the email address)
8. You can click the checkbox to “Notify” if you would like, but I will be checking for folders even without message alerts – your choice
9. Click SEND
We will use this folder as a shared storage location for all college related documents this year – admission materials, scholarship application needs, financial aid paperwork etc. Not only will it help keep you organized, but it will allow me to access needed documents without having to exchange emails that unnecessarily crowd inboxes. We will work together to correctly share documents so that the right permissions are included each time you upload and share documents.
This is a new document sharing process this year, but I hope this will streamline our needs and create a success plan for everyone!
