Assigned in Google Classroom...
The college resume is super important to “holistic review” institutions; those colleges and universities that take into account all aspects of your file instead of making admission decisions based solely on cumulative GPAs, class ranks, and test scores (very different this year!).
As a student at a Cristo Rey Network high school who participates in the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP), you are gifted the opportunity to make yourself really stand out in comparison to most other high school seniors in Missouri and Kansas.
Attached, please find a SUPER HELPFUL resource from the Rockhurst University Office of Career Services. It has GREAT action verbs for your resume, sorted by skill set (leadership, technical, communication, research, etc.). Please use this guide to improve your resume to reflect what you need/want to portray to colleges, universities, and scholarship organizations.
In addition, two “top ten lists” are also attached to this message: (1) DO these on your college/scholarship resume and (2) do NOT do these. Use these two documents as checklists to compare your current resume to the expectations for your final draft. In order to earn credit for this important assignment, these two lists need to be followed!
I have forwarded what I have on file for each of you, as of the end of junior year. That way, in case you do not have it saved in an accessible location, you do not need to start from scratch; rather, just build upon and improve your last draft. Once you have your CWSP assignments for senior year and can finalize your document...
Only after you have verified you have met the criteria from the two checklists, save your Google Doc as Fall 2020 Resume - Last Name, First Name. Make sure to share the document with me and add me as an EDITOR so that I can offer comments and feedback for possible corrections. Then upload the document to the shared COLLEGE folder in your Google Drive.
This assignment is due no later than 10pm on Sunday, September 27.
